Dear Me In 2014

Dear Me In 2014,

Where do I begin? Words can't describe the year that you had and I hardly even know where to start. I've decided though to call this year the "Year of Surprises" because trust me, it was full of them.

It started off with your dad losing his job, and this effected your family probably the most this year. You always trusted in the Lord that He would care for your family, but you were all tested. You struggled but it brought you to realize that everything you and your family had belongs to God.

During this time your faith will also be tested again, and unfortunately you will stumble here. You were so passionate to know God's truth and wanted to know all the answers that it became too much to bear. Instead of letting God's word lift you up, it discouraged you. You put down your bible and let it sit there for too many days because it was just too hard to understand. You pushed away the people who wanted to help you see the truth and relationships changed. You were stuck in a rut of frustration and depression.

Although these times were difficult, there were many things that caused you so much joy that you will never forget. One of the things that will bring you the most joy in 2014 is the littles in your life. You will teach 11 one year olds and they will quickly become your best friends, diarrhea or no diarrhea! You will also get to meet your best friends baby Kenley (aka Lenny) and get to love other littles such as Puggie, JoHammy and Shelbers (clearly this year you were also queen of the nicknames)! Along with the new littles, your Smoochie Smooch will turn three this year.. THREE! You can't believe how old she is already, and will cry on several occasions because your partner in crime is growing up too fast. This all may sound silly to others, but children will be a huge part of your happiness this year. Teaching them is something that you will be very proud of and is something that you love doing.

Around the fall time things will start to change for you, although you won't really have an understanding of why just yet. You finally start to get back up on your feet again and you come out of this funk that you have been dying to get out of. This is probably because some people in your life start turn to you for help, and you needed to be ready to serve them. You will spend many hours talking, laughing, crying and sharing experiences with people that you won't forget. Remember, these are the moments that really matter.

During the fall time, you will experience another shocker that you did not see coming. You were taught at too young of an age that love was something difficult and painful, and this has stayed with you for a long time and has broken you. This year though, a wonderful man will decide to put up with your messy self. You will try to be independent and act like you don't need someone to take care of you for awhile, but he will break down those barriers that you had built up for so long. He will show you what love is through his love for God, and this will be something that you cherish the most about him. Your relationship will be one of the biggest blessings this year.

You end 2014 with quite the cliff hanger Miss Ashley Jane. You are working full time and going to school part time, you start a new business and you have boyfriend.. craziness! This is all very overwhelming for you, but in time you learn your greatest lesson of the year. This is the year that you learn that you are not in control of your life, God is. Looking back there were so many cases where you desperately tried to make things go your way. You got mad and frustrated when God has a different plan than you, when you should've trusted him. This year, you will take this lesson and apply it to your future.. do not forget it!

Thanks for the memories me.. Here's to a wonderful and exciting 2015!
